Both boxers should have trunks below the navel so the gut is exposed and becomes a target for punches. Better yet, box nude so there is no obstruction to the gut and the target is highly visible.

I agree completely. Nude boxing is the best. Makes the entire gut visible and allows unobstructed access to the stomach, liver, and intestines. Then they can all be worked over.
