If anyone was reading my blog during the lockdowns, (feels like a lifetime ago), You might recognize the basic story. After a couple years of rewrites, proofing, polishing and a title change it is finally out. Its a very personal story, based on a few childhood events from my own life that I have used as inspiration. It has lots of wrestling in it, however maybe not as much as my other novels. If you read it I hope you will appreciate the story and the characters as much as the headlocks and scissor holds.

"When thirteen year old Freddy saw the speedo in the department store he had to have it. It looked just like the trunks the professional wrestlers he so admired wore. However, he had no idea that it would turn his time at John Wesley Bible Camp from bad to intolerable, and it was just one more thing that made him feel like an alien in the very Christian environment he’d been raised in. When he meets Sean things change. The charismatic and incredibly handsome camp counselor teaches Freddy that he can be and do anything he wants, that bruises fade but knowing you’re not afraid will last forever.
Years later, when the two young men find each other again, it’s Freddy who returns the favor. When the struggle between having faith and being queer becomes a wrestling match with lethal consequences. This very personal coming of age story is about finding yourself in a time when acceptance was the exception."

I have bought my copy; can't wait for it to get here. Amazon makes it very easy and it is reasonable in cost. Thank you for your efforts. Your other books are outstanding reads and the descriptive skills you evidence in every physical encounter are superb.

With about 30 pages to go before I complete Part I, I don't think it premature to comment on this canwrestle's latest novel.

There's a term that speaks to the excitement of the reader as her turns from one page onto the next, wherein the action and the flow of the story prompts the reader to lick his lips and brush the tip of his index finger to go forward in pursuit of learning what's going to happen next. That term to describe a great read, understandably, is "page turner." That's what Wonderfully Made is. Indeed, the very title tells the truth of this novel. The story is the story of many of the members of Meet Fighters. How much of this book is a record of the author's own experience I don't know, but given the many scenes portrayed I wouldn't be surprised if it is considerable.

I highly recommend this work; to not read it is to deprive oneself of a great deal of pleasure as well as to gain many an insight.

I'll state outright: I'm not a fan of reading fiction. And when it comes to 'gay fiction' I run away from it like the plague. But I was so enthralled by this story that I literally read it cover-to-cover in less than a day.

The reader is likely to see some part of himself in either of the protagonists - Freddy or Sean. What you've done exceptionally well, CanWrestle, is to craft a very realistic coming of age story (and coming out story?) that hones in on the most common narrative here on MeetFighters: integrating a passion for wrestling along side same-sex desire. I was deeply taken in by the characters you did a masterful job of making the fighting scenes about the wrestling and the narrative. They didn't feel remotely gratuitous or sexual. And that is a genuine reflection of how many of us have tried to sort out our own complex thoughts on these feelings.

One does wonder about the old adage to novelists: "Write what you know." Are Freddy and Sean real? Perhaps we'll sense more in the upcoming sequel.
