Believe it or not, I have a very good and thought-out reason for limiting video viewing privileges. The reason is to discourage "tourist" people from joining just for the purpose of just watching videos. This is still a personals site and I fully intend to keep it that way.
Anyone who is reasonably active or has helped the site can watch can already view videos. The definition of "reasonably active" is of course debatable. Do I want to debate it? Not so much.
It is possible to enjoy the site without watching videos. In fact, I would argue that there are much better sites for watching videos. It is just a small extra feature here that adds little to the core purpose of the site, which is still Meeting Fighters.
My question regarding my ability to view videos is that my video that I posted "Hotel Match" got almost 600 views and has a 3.5 rating right now but I'm not able to view videos still. Is that not meeting one of the requirements? I really want to know so if you can send me an email on here please do so. Thanks.
if only all those who loves to comment on people's concerns here about video viewing requirements have being a world traveller like NorCalFur, it is simply injustice to call his concerns 'whining' as he experienced what he thought is a piece of cake for him to fulfill either three of the requirements, is actually not an EASY requirements for those guys he met to wrestle outside of the US/Europe
ask yourself if you have ever being out from your country and travel to the other part of the world, and wrestled at least 10 of us, before you start shooting off about how cheap it is to get a camera to start recording a match where wrestling is a rarity, or donation (if it is in our currency, USD1=RM3.3 or EURO1=RM4.8) or have to had more than 10 opponents to qualify (which in this case i have)
I do find the requirements annoying BUT I fully understand them.
Running a website (especially one with decent traffic) can be expensive. Hosting videos makes it even more so. This site is free to all, something just about every other wrestling personals site can't claim.
Stop bitching. It would be stupid to count cyber opponents as past opponents. The biggest problem in this community is that we have too many people who want to stay behind their computer all the time.
Well, I have some wrestling friends who are featured in some of the videos I've posted on the site, but they cannot view them, as they don't have 10 past opponents.
It is apparently, difficult for some members to understand what the situation is for wrestlers/fighters in other parts of the world. Places where wrestling is not very common and there are therefore few people to meet. It is difficult enough for some of these guys to arrange a place to wrestle, as costs and income are not what they are in other places. What I am suggesting is that the minimum number of opponents, be lower in places outside more developed regions/countries (i.e., outside the U.S., most of Europe, etc.), where there are more active members.
I think you're right, but I also think that you will never convince Norcalfur. His point of view is entirely without reason and he just keeps repeating the same thing over and over. Boo hoo, some guys can't get past opponents, what an injustice. It's as if watching videos is an inalienable human right that they are being denied of by nazis.
Nocalfur. I'm begging you, just drop it already. Buying a one-year pass to watch every video costs about the same as dinner, peanuts compared to what buying a computer/phone with internet access does. Anyone who wants it can get it. The rest is just whining. Oh, the endless whining...
the 'endless whining' dont seem to consider the fact that your one dinner value may equates to someone's weekly allowance for groceries! Norcalfur meant well in my case (i was one of his opponents in his videos), and i dont get more than 10 wrestlers who can actively wanting to get to wrestle with me, whilst i dont have space for it only my own apartment room, so maybe you will be so kind to come visit me in Kuala Lumpur, perhaps you will stop with the part about us being whinny not being able to watch the videos not because we dont want to get a video pass but cant afford it!
So you do have a video to upload? Wonderful. Do it. Problem solved. End of whining. You will be rewarded with video watching abilities that you crave so much.
Seriously people, STOP MAKING EXCUSES. It's just sad and not worthy of fighters.
obviously you have not check out my profile, i dont have to whine about not able to watch videos because i had more than 10 opponents, i am just saying that is could be an issue for some. and can you stop with your whining and come fight in Asia!
Not everyone even has a camera, and not everyone has the financial ability to donate, even obtain a place to wrestle! A few would like to view the videos of other people in their area, but I cannot provide copies to anyone aside from an opponent, pictured in the video.
Wait a minute. You shot video of your opponents - presumably with their permission - and didn't give them a copy? And now you want to assert that they should somehow be able to view them here just because YOU meet the admin's requirements?!
What is it with you guys. The admin's rules are perfectly reasonable. Norcalfur, you are just being argumentative, right?
No, I am not suggesting that my opponents, be able to view the videos, because I happen to meet the requirements. I am questioning why 10 opponents and not some other number. Some of these cities, don't even have ten people who actively wrestle. Which means some of their wrestling friends, cannot view the videos on the site, either. Yes, of course, my opponents are provided copies of the videos, but they would all wish to be able to view them on the site, as well!
My opponents had made me aware of the site requirements (for being able to view videos). I suppose a reasonable alternative would be doing cyber matches, in order to view the videos (since somehow, these apparently are sufficient to meet the requirement). I would guess a cyber match could be anything which involved a discussion about wrestling.
The part on the video upload page that says "PLEASE DO NOT UPLOAD COPYRIGHTED VIDEOS OF OTHER INDIVIDUALS OR COMPANIES!" in large bold letters? That is not a joke.
I am fairly certain that the membership enjoys MeetFighters.com better if it is not closed down due to copyright-related lawsuits.
Ok whatever then, I tried. But just to let you know, the other video that did not have sexual content in it has been floating around the internet for the past 6 years and nobody, I repeat NOBODY has come out of hiding to say it's theirs or to have it taken off of said various websites. I fail to see how it would create copyright conflict on this site at this very point in time.
Does anyone else here think the requirement to watch videos here is a bit ridiculous. I live in Harrisburg and there is nobody here who is into gutpunching like I am. I just can't meet the 10 past opponents requirement and there seem to be some great gutpunching videos I am missing out on because of it.
Seems like a perfectly reasonable request to me. If you don't have the requisite opponents, upload one of your own videos, or simply make a donation to the site.

Have 10 or more past opponents
OR
Upload a good video yourself
